Vacation Day 3
It was nearly time for all royal mermaids and mermen to meet in the main room, or as I had decided to name it, the boredom room. I wished I could chill with Coral or Bow instead, but I had let Bow swim outside for a few days: she had a bad case of cabin fever... and Coral, well she was busy preparing things. I was about to leave for another hour of debates and boredom, when I just remembered something - the gorgeous painting that Irivin had done of me.
I swam up two hotel floors, hoping that Prince Irivin would be in his room. I swam up to his door, and slowly knocked on it. Seconds later, it opened and a handsome merman with shiny brown hair, and light brown skin, about my age appeared. Suddenly, I felt the blood drain away from my face. "Hi." I greeted nervously.
"Hello." Irivin replied.
"Thanks for... the painting yesterday." I thanked.
"You're welcome." He smiled I felt my face go from cold to hot.
"Please, call me Eden." I smiled back, "Is there anything I can do for you as a thank you?" Irivin began to rub his head awkwardly.
"Well, um... could I.... show you around the area... maybe after the meeting? Count it as a royal break."
"Sure." I agreed, swimming off to the main room.
After a long two hours, of sitting still, I met up with Irivin in the halls the debates were over and I was outside with him. "Alright," I stretched, "Where are we going?"
"This way." Irivin motioned, I swam forward with him and we found ourselves at a strange coral field surrounded by a high gate, there was a sign saying, 'qualified merpeople only.' "What does it mean, qualified?" I asked.
"Here is for defence training more than anything." He explained opening the gate door.
"Are you qualified?" I asked.
"I come to practice from time to time." He nodded as he threw me a coral sword, "Want to have a go?"
"Alright." I nodded. I rubbed my hand against the sharp- looking sword, but it felt strangely soft.
"Don't worry, it's made of magic coral. It'll only attack when you want it to." He added as he moved my hands across the sword handle until I was holding it properly.
I swam inside and seconds later, I saw two large lion-fish I knew that lion-fish were venomous and they looked pretty angry. I froze as they swam towards me, but Irivin swam in front of me and began sword fighting them. After two minutes I gave it a go and I made my mind focus on getting the sword to attack. And it did just that! I grinned in surprise.
"I'm doing it." I called out from the other side of the fence. But I lost concentration and one of the poisonous barbs touched me. I squealed in pain before sinking to the seabed.
About ten seconds later, I found myself back outside the gate. I felt very giddy and I could barely see anything, but I heard Irivin saying,
"Don't worry Eden, you'll be okay soon." I felt Irivin's hands on my chest, then his healing energy soaked into me, then I felt the venom disappear from my body.
Shakily, I sat up, Irivin put his hand behind my back to stop me from falling.
"T- thanks..." I struggled to say.
"Don't mention it... sorry I made that happen to you." He sighed apologetically.
"What do you mean? That was awesome, I think we should try again tomorrow!" I reassured. Irivin looked quite impressed with my bravery. I got up but then I realised something, we had a meeting this evening with the kingdoms, but I just felt so weak, I barely had the energy to swim, let alone air through another long set of boring speeches.
Together, we swam up to my hotel room. "Um... Irivin?" I turned to the Prince.
"Yes, you okay?" He asked me.
"Well, actually, I still don't feel very well."
"What's wrong?" Irivin asked,
"I still feel a bit weak and I think I need to get some sleep. Could you tell my friend Coral that I can't come down to the meeting tonight?" I asked, hope in my voice.
"Sure thing, I'm going to be pretty busy, so see you later!" He waved swimming off, I tucked myself in and fell asleep within minutes
My eyes opened slowly, It had been about two hours, I could tell because it was early evening. I felt much better. The dizziness and weakness had totally gone! I suddenly heard a knock at my door. Then I heard whispering,
"C-come in?" I called awkwardly. Suddenly the door opened Coral and Ailene swam in.
"Are you alright?" Ailene asked me quickly.
"Yeah, I'm fine, why?" I asked, pretending to sound innocent. I couldn't let them know I was defence training with Irivin, The King and Queen of the Healeree Colony would be furious.
"Prince Irivin told us everything!" Coral replied.
"Everything?" I repeated, quite scared.
"Yeah, but don't worry, I told my mom a different story." The green and blue tailed mermaid winked.
"What did you say?"
"That you are busy preparing things." Ailene answered, flapping her sparkling yellow fin.
"So… tell us about Irivin!" Coral nudged,
"What?"
"C'mon… you know!"
"Er... no I don't know…"
This is going to be a LONG evening.
