The Tsunami Tide
I was in my bedroom at home, well, my land home that is, when I suddenly felt unbelievably dizzy. I stumbled backwards and fell onto the bed, I wondered what was going on. After the dizzy spell had died down, I stood up and looked at my calendar it read the 9th of October. I had learned special mermaid dates off by heart and couldn't remember anything. Today was the tsunami splash. That was it. I decided to go outside to rest.
As I relaxed, I decided to practice my powers. I wiggled my fingers, and the water in my pool instantly rose. However, the water splashed all over me (my legs especially). I watched my tail materialize, I then sighed in frustration What was wrong with me? This couldn't have anything to do with the tsunami splash could it? After five minutes, my tail went away. I decided to go for a walk to the nearby lake to see if any mermaids could help.
I drew in air and dived underwater, the second my tail appeared, I found that I could breathe normally underwater. Suddenly, I started to feel faint "No, not now!" I groaned. Fighting to stay conscious, I swam to the bottom of the lake. I looked around for any sign of mermaids, I couldn't see anyone, I wondered where they were, the lake was practically empty. Well, I saw a fluther of jellyfish but they couldn't help. My vision began to turn grey, I couldn't stay awake anymore. I fell to the lakebed, passed out.
"Her colour's coming back!" I heard a voice whisper, I felt something warm and soothing on my skin, "The hot pack should do it." It whispered again. Groaning, I opened my eyes, my vision was still a bit blurred. But I knew that I was on a comfortable bed.
"W- where am I?" I whispered. I looked around, I was in a beautiful, purple coral house. I saw a blonde haired girl swim up to me, she had a bright, coral pink tail that glittered in the underwater sunlight. "How're you feeling sweetie?" She asked, her voice was kind and delicate.
"Fine." I answered quickly, I tried to sit up, but it was really hard, I felt really weak. I was definitely not fine. "Who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Ophiris, a lake mermaid." She told me,
"I'm Eden, a half mermaid." I replied. I tried to move but I just ended up straining my already sore tail. "Ouch!" I moaned. "No, no, no, don't get up." Ophiris whispered in a gentle tone,
"You're still a bit pale, stay in bed."
I nodded and relaxed back into the bed. Ophiris swam over to a desk, and got a bowl, I couldn't see what she was doing, but she seemed to be mixing sea plants. "So, I found you unconscious on the lakebed, how did you get there?" She asked me as she chopped up some kelp with a sharp rock. I tried to remember, but my fuzzy head was a lot slower than usual.
"I… think I came here to look for mermaids…" I began, suddenly, it all came back to me. "I was looking for them because I've been feeling really weird and drained for some reason, maybe that's why I passed out… and I wondered if since you're a mermaid, you'd have an idea."
After I had explained everything, Ophiris swam up to me, holding a cup with a strange pink mixture inside, the top of a silver spoon was sticking out the side,.
"Here." She told me, "This is sea-soup. Eat it. It will help you get your strength back."
Nodding, I tried to use the spoon to eat but my hands were too weak and shivery to hold it. "Oh and by the way, you can drink it too." Ophiris added, I sipped it. It tasted awesome.
"Mmmm…" I sighed, "That's amazing…" Finally getting the strength to stand Up, I swam up to Ophiris. "By the way, what do you think caused this?" I asked.
"I think it's the Tsunami Tide!" She explained. She spent a while taking care of me until I felt strong enough to swim back home to the surface.
